Ever Hear of The Sandbar Willow Fairy Bee? Or the Waterleaf Nomad? Come Hear Spencer Hardy’s Talk on Native Bees!!

Spencer Hardy has been studying bees with the Vermont Center for Ecostudies for over a decade and has traversed the state many times hunting for rare bees, which often involves trying to find the unique plants upon which these species depend. This talk will introduce a few of his favorite charismatic microfauna, such as the Sandbar Willow Fairy Bee and the Waterleaf Nomad, with a discussion of more familiar groups such as the Bumble Bees and Sweat Bees. Since 2023, Spencer has been growing and selling native plants through his business, The Farm Upstream, and will be using this experience to highlight the overlap between ornamental gardening and biodiversity conservation.
